CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
ESOL Level 3 Open Education Resource Curriculum Development Project
Created an Open Education Resource (OER) for adult learners enrolled in the English Language, Career, and Academic Pathway (ELCAP) program at Highline College. The OER is free and available for adult learners to use via Canvas.

Basic and Transitional Studies Division Pedagogy of the Oppressed Reading Circle
Formed a Community of Practice among faculty colleagues in the Seattle Central College Basic and Transitional Studies Division reading Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire to examine current teaching practices. Faculty will redevelop and update curriculum used in the division to better serve our immigrant, refugee, and non-traditional student populations. January 2022 to March 2022.

Basic and Transitional Studies Division Adult Basic Education Communications Committee
Collaborated with faculty colleagues to distinguish anti-bias/anti-racist practices with English Communications courses, and developed portfolio based classes to highlight student success in contextualized classes for the 2021-2022 Academic Year. Advocated to new academic readers to implement in the ABE Communications courses. January 2021 to August 2021.

Basic and Transitional Studies Division Adult Basic Education Math Committee
Collaborated with faculty colleagues to develop a stand alone ABE Math course offering for Autumn 2021. Identified areas of improvement to increase recruitment and retention rates through outreach in the Greater Seattle Area and local community centers and restaurants. January 2021 to August 2021.

Basic and Transitional Studies Division Adult Basic Education Vision Committee
Collaborated with faculty colleagues to reimagine and revise the vision statement in the Adult Basic Education department. Implemented restructuring survey to BTSD at large to identify changes with students to adapt and change the ABE vision statement. January 2021 to August 2021.

Basic and Transitional Studies Division Men of Color Reading Circle Committee
Formed a Community of Practice among faculty colleagues in the Seattle Central College Basic and Transitional Studies Division reading Empowering Men of Color on Campus by Derrick R. Brooms, Jelisa Clark, and Matthew Smith to develop resources. January to March 2021.

Basic and Transitional Studies Division Anti-Racist Pedagogy Committee
Collaborated with faculty colleagues in the Seattle Central College Basic and Transitional Studies Division reading Race, Empire, and English Language teaching: Creating Responsible and Ethical Anti-Racist Practice by Dr. Suhanthie Motha to develop anti-racist practices in ESL education.
